Nulab Drinking Code: Advanced Docker & Scaling Infrastructure - 16 November, Singapore

This will be the last Drinking Code meetup for 2018 at NuSpace in Singapore, the focus of this event will be  advanced Docker concepts and scaling infrastructure.

6.30 - 7.00pm: Registration, drinks and pizza.

7.00pm - 7.30pm:
**Advanced Docker concepts**
by Florian Besser, Expert Software Engineer at Zuhlke Engineering.

In this short presentation we’ll cover some of the advanced Docker concepts that go beyond creating simple Docker images and running containers.

For Docker containers we’ll talk about additional features like health checks, and how the network internals are used when you link containers together.

When it comes to Docker images you will learn how to keep them small & how building upon other images can help save trouble. Additionally you’ll learn about how layers are used and how you can influence them.

7.30pm - 8.00pm:
**Gotcha’s in deploying your container at scale - from 1 to over 9000 containers**
by Eugene Cheah, CTO at Ui-licious (

Now that you got your containers working and uploaded. We will be quickly covering on container orchestration technologies, such as Docker Swarm, and Kubernetes.

And subsequently the main topic of common gotcha’s in scaling up one’s infrastructure from 1 container to over 9000.
